Hello All,
My company is thinking of undertaking a project to build a company race car from a protege. We have already received the protege, and want to make it into a full fledged race car.
This is where I need the help.
The plan so far
Gut the inside (Almost done)
Remove all glass besides windshield, and make them plexi
Racing seat
We are still looking into the rules, but turboing may not be allowed. If it is not, what should we/could we do to bump up the power. We prefer Mazdaspeed stuff, because we have access to almost anything, if not anything, they make. We need engine, suspension, and brake upgrades. If you think Mazdaspeed doesn't have what we need, or there is better out there, please let us know.
If we can turbo it, what are your thoughts on that.
What about rear drive or AWD conversions, assuming the rules allow it, again, we are looking into it.
This car is a true race car, no street driving. Make believe you can build the race car of your dreams out of your Protege, what would you do.
Here are some pics of the car
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanx
Michael
Also, if you know of any shops with experience with the Protege in the Southern California area, please let me know.
