    A/C Light Flickers....Whats Up???

Im havin issues with my a/c light flickering or turning off in any fan speed position except 1, which SUCKS cuz it's gettin hot here in Texas! I noticed it starting to do this alittle last fall, but other fan speeds still worked, it was completely random which one would cause the light to flicker. The compressor does turn on/off with the light so to prevent damage to it I've been ridin with no A/C, which was fine over the winter but its pretty much unbearable during a South Texas summer. Im off for the weekend so I'll be tinkerin with that n other little projects so If anyone knows of a quick fix let me know! Thanx

I work for a toyota dealer and we have some of the older camry's come in with the a/c light flashing and the problem is usually the magnetic clutch relay...but thats on a toyota but might be omething to check........ switch the magnetic clutch relay out with another relay and see what happens

It could be low on refrigerant as well. Does it ever blow out cold air?

Thanks for yalls help, I fixed it tho, turned out to be just dirty connections on the wiring harness. I took it all apart and cleaned the connections, then smeared alittle die electric grease on em for good measure and so far all fan speeds work and light stays on in both recycle and refresh mode. It blows ice cold too so looks like Ill be stayin cool this summer after all...in my car at least. (By the way I forgot to mention but the clutch was kickin in and refigerant was full)

Also, for those who may be interested, I figured out how to change the color on ur climate control swith lights. If u take the black cover off of the front of the control unit there is a platic plate thats painted whatever color comes stock (mine's orange). Two screws hold the plate on so you can easily remove it and remove the paint using a mild solvant (dont use anything that will dull the plastic or ur light wont be as bright!) Now u can paint it whatever color you want. Just as a trial I used regular spray paint (pink of course!) and it worked pretty well, but I'm looking into a more translucent paint that would probably give off a better glow, especially for dark colors like blue. Or you could probably leave it clear and get colored bulbs or paint the bulbs. I'm not sure which would work better, but I'll keep yall posted on that

PROBLEM: A/C light flickers on position 2 and 3
PREVIOUSLY TRIED: Replacing switch, cleaning all contacts
RESULT: Worked for a day or 2....

SOLUTION: 1) Pull out each wire (1 by 1 so there's no color mix-up) using a tiny screwdriver to lift the tiny tab inside each wire housing.
              2) Clean each contact with isopropyl alcohol or similar
              3) Squeeze the connector closed with pliers
              4) Re-install

Before doing this, I noticed that if I would pull the wire harness out a couple of mm, I would lose electrical contact completely (obviously). But what surprised me was that when I would push the connector in SLOWLY to the point of just making electrical contact, only fan speeds 1 and 4 would work. I would have to push the connector in further to engage all fan speeds. After squeezing my contacts, I now have the A/C light completely solid during ALL fan speeds, EVEN when I pull the connector out a few mm. So this worked for me!

Try it and post your results!! Put a STICKY too!!

EDIT: I JUST ADDED A PIC WITH THE PINOUT SHOWING WHICH WIRE CONTROLS WHICH SPEED... THIS MAY HELP YOU ISOLATE THE PROBLEM WIRE...
