    Removing side moldings

I did a search and our faq seems to have gona mia.

From what I understand all I need to use is 3m adhesive remover, a credit card, and maybe a hair dryer.

Now can anyone tell me what 3m adhesive remover I need and where can I find it? I checked the site and they have an automotive and a citrius remover thats safe on paint.

Should I just give up and order this stuff online?

i was actually just searching cuz i wanna do this mod too.
from what i remember, you need that 3M ****, a show horn and paper towels.

but i'd like to find to exact how-to from someone that's done it. i don't like being a test dummy.

i thought you could buy the 3M stuff at like Home Depot or (in canada) Canadian Tire.

I just recently did mine... looks really nice.... all you need is 2 cans of adhesive remover (3M) and some old t-shirts. I used the aerosol type remover. I got it at walmart. The most important thing you really need is TIME. This is a very slow job... It took me about 4 hours total. Now that I actually know the technique now... I could probably have it done in about 2 hours... I would take a gues and say do it in the heat too... I did mine in the winter and that adhesive did not wanna come off! Oh and another thing.... DO NOT USE YOUR FINGER NAIL TO SCRATCH THE ADHESIVE OFF LIKE SOME HOW-TO'S MAY SAY!! You will leave scratches this way. Just soak the adhesive and start on one end and try to RUB a corner of it up and once a corner is rolled up you can roll it all off just like you would a sticker on a cigarrette lighter.... anyways... GOOD LUCK and stay away from other cars afterwards.... I now have the Door Ding of all Door Dings now....I hate other cars!!

i'm gonna warn any one who has wrecked their cars and had parts repainted. check before you do this. when the front of my car was replaced, they blended the paint and paited over the front molding piece. they didn't remove it, so when i pulled up the molding, the paint around it cracked up the worst part is, that was the last piece i removed

Number one tip for removing moldings, decals, bumper stickers, etc: HEAT.
More heat = less time and fewer chemicals.

well i used to detail at a car dealership and if i learned one thing is that when a product says safe on paint... well that doesnt mean it is, i did my moulding about a day or so ago and i just used a hair dryer and mt thumb! then when i was dont with that i took some good rubbing compound and took off the rest of the wax line and little adhesive left over, no chemicals just elbow grease...worked for me but if you dont want to spend the time on it i would recomend going to a car dealership and asking the head detailer if you could buy some adhesive remover off him. that way you know its good ****! just my .02

the moldings are only glued on? damn thats awesome. we are just now in the process of removing the side moldings off my friend's VW jetta, it left like 6 holes in each door, so we have to remove the inside door panels and weld the holes
