2002 Protege 5..does the ignit key contain a Transponder..?

Stupid question...I'm not sure if it did or not.. need to get a replacement key...not sure what the cost is going to be..
and I can't find anything in the Work Shop Manual

nope mazdas chiped keys are in te b4000, and most of the 2002+ tributes All the ES's had it, then they changed in 03 to every I and S model had them.

- Your Primary and Secondary keys will not just be metal they will have plastic and be thicker. Mostlikly the keys will cost bout $30 a piece too.

Im guessing the 6's have chipped keys and possibly the 3's

Just a way to get more money, secure cars, but with technology these days, anyone can steal a car

Ive lurked here for a long time and have enjoyed "the mans" wisdom (as well as others) but thought I had to create an account and chime in.
You say its unnecessary info, who cares? Why cant we learn more additional info, this is a forum afterall.
