    Poor gas mileage

I seem to be getting poot gas mileage lately.
I have a stock 2001 protege LX 2.0. 15" winter tires on now, 30lb pressure.
It has about 130,000 (80,700 miles) km on it.
I just had a new timing belt done and my plugs were checked by Mazda and seem fine to them. The issue was before I got my timing belt done.

I filled my tank full and my light just came on after 415km of driving, mostly highway. That's 257 miles according to my calculator. That sounds really bad, what's average?

really depends on how big your tank is on my 99 pro 1.6 has a total cap 12.34gallons and gets 420 miles to a tank.

It also depends on what kinda driving you're doing. Are you talking about stop and go driving around town or mostly highway? I have a 2001 ES2.0 and I can usually get about 550 - 600 kms per tank on the highway. This is assuming that I'm not doing 150 - 160km/hr. I'll only get about 350 - 375 a tank when I do that kind of speed. For the most part in town I can usually get about 500 kms off a fill. It also depends on if you're letting your car idle for a while in the winter before driving off. I get a lot less kms per tank in the winter months

I get good gas milage out of my LX as well, sometimes it will be right close to two weeks till I have to fill up. I can go 320-350 miles, but I only drive it to work and to dance then back home. The other cars I own get the long driving on them. I always make sure my oil is changed on time and someone once told me if you didn't have the right amount of air in your tires it would limit your gas milage too? I just keep it tuned up....well not right now hahaha! Good Luck!

I added some durlube gas treatment to clean out some carbon and a new air filter (which was kinda dirty with some bird feathers in it It probably kelped, I'll know on the next fillup.
This weekend I'm going to use 1/2 can of Carburetor Cleaner.

Wow! 350 MPG(Miles Per Gallon) !!!! Most people only get as good as 350 Miles Per Tank(MPT). I would like to buy your car.

yeah that is messed up...check the air filter, oxygen sensor too. that always has a huge impact on it. One of the reasons the car doesnt get great mileage anyway is because it is a very high revving car. At 60mph in 5th gear (manual tranny) it is revving at about 3500rpm. Definitely get the air filter and oxygen sensor looked at though

seafoam works well for cleaning up carbon buildup

I see around ~29mpg in my p5. But that is 90% highway driving.
The T3 BP MX-3 conversion has begun, and is taking forever & will kill me.

i cant believe in this many posts no one has said about rpm. If u drive at grandmother rpms ur gonna get good gas milage, if u drive NASCAR stayle ur gonna stop at evey gas station on the way. U said mostly highway so u shoud be around 3500-4200 rpm so what u said for milage may be a bit low but not much, if ur really concerned, replace ur o2 sensors.
