speed limiter???

I have a 1999 Protege ES.
When it hits 115 mph it does a funky little lurch thing and the speed decreases. It pulls HARD all the way up to 115, like it should make it to 130 or so, but there seems to be a limiter.
Can anyone verify the presence of a limiter on these cars? If so, how do I do away with it?

haha yeah man same thing with my car(99es5spd)... It doesnt lurch but its stupid as hell, re-program your ecu?

yeah it sucks because my car will usually hang with my buddies' cars... until 115. I was hoping to eventually build another motor for it and boost the piss out of it.

you guys do understand the concept of a speed limiter right?..to prevent you from going 115mph on public roads..lol..my 99 dodge dakota would shut down at 89mph so the trick was to turn the key right as you hit 89 and it would allow you to go over the limiter. i never tried this on my protege so dont hold your breath
