    P2009 OBD II code problem

My 2003 Protege check engine came on, so I put my OBD-II scanner on it and a "P2009" code comes up. Can't find what this code means or what I need to do to fix the problem. Need to fix it to pass my State Emissions test. Anybody run into this problem? Help appreciated!

I think you may have the wrong code. The P stands for powertrain but the 2009 doesn'tr seem reasonable.

Thanks for the bookmark DeanSweetP5. the site I normally go to didn't have it listed and it wasn't in my service manual. My 1999 1.6 doesn't have a variable runner so the service manual didn't list it either. I had to look it up to see what it was. I hadn't heard of it before. It would seem that my Taurus has one, but I haven't done a lot of servicing of it. It's still practically new with only 120k miles.
Tapcity, vacuum leak is a possibility, but when I was trying to find out what it even was I discovered that they have a tendency to stick open. Surgery may be called for.
