Clutch pedal off to right side on P5?

    Hi,

    I'v bought 2002 protege5 today,

85k miles 5spd. I'v had numerous RX-7s, still have one thus familiarity with mazda runs on me.

After driving the car today, I keep thinking the clutch pedal is closer to break than foot rest.

Is this normal, pedal arm does look little curved.

    Thanks guys.

    Welcome to the Forum.

I photographed the setup on my '02 DX sedan - should be the same as the P5.

The clutch pedal appears slightly closer to the footrest and the clutch pedal arm is straight. The brake pedal arm is curved to the left.

Thanks Goldstar, througly enjoyed your write up on spark plugs and transmission oil change which are due. Those 1.6l plugs on 2.0 FS engine advances the timing which is good, but so it'd require 91 octane fuel to minimize any chance of knocking? (having rotary, very sensitive to knocking here)

The pedal arm is definitely bent. I'm thinking about trying to bend it back using wrench or plier while watching the master cyliner. Also my brake pedal feels too soft and throttle pedal is too inward, weird when rev matching (heel and toeing).

And another weird thing is, Stud looks too short on stock wheels. You can see how the lugnut is only halfway in and I'm not too fond of this. I'v checked and there's no spacer on wheels.

      Thanks for warm welcome!

Thank you for the kind words. I should have mentioned in the spark plug thread that I use 89 octane (Plus) to be on the safe side and have found it to be more than adequate, no matter how heavy the loading, for the projected extended reach plugs. I'm certain that you wouldn't need to use 91 octane should you make the change.

And yes, the lugs definitely look too short for secure mounting. This is something that should definitely be checked.
