    2000 protege any good?

I'm looking at getting a 2000 protege with the 1.6L and it has an auto tranny and I was just wondering how reliable these cars are? I have a 91 Protege DX and it's fantastic so i'm hoping for the same with this newer one.

Assuming the car is in overall good shape, properly maintained, etc., the 1.6 L should be a reliable car. However, with the AT it will tend to be a bit sluggish performance-wise. If you do acquire it, changing all fluids to syntherics, replacing the spark plug wires with NGKs, and the spark plugs with NGKs or Densos will get you off to a good start.

    Happy Motoring!

Slow car, but ultra-reliable. Both of mine were great once I sorted out the usual blown struts and broken end links that all Proteges seem to have at this age, because the old owners gave up on them (here, anyways).
