VJ23 turbo only

Hey guys,

I spoke with the previous owner of my VJ23 and he told me that the turbo might need to be inspected and maybe rebalanced before use. I'm honestly don't have anymore time for all this and don't feel like investigating anymore.

So, my VJ23 is up for grabs. I dunno how much it is worth today but I guess 300$ + shipping is reasonable, considering I paid much more for the setup and never used it and that it's condition is unknown. The turbo has 0 lateral play and a couple of thousanths of axial play which is maybe normal, depending on who you ask.

It comes with the wastegate and all the lines attached and the dump elbow with gasket. The exhaust mani is sold to a buddy of mine so only the turbo is available. Anyways, let me know.

Dammit I *really* want that manifold, at least I did a few months ago. My timing obviously sucks. I must carefully think about grabbing that turbo however...

is this the one that was on ebay in canada a few months back, that needed a rebuild because it had "blown seals"?

BTW worst timing ever, i need a spare but i am trying to rebuild my transmission while installing a quaife, buy a new beater car, and save up money to get my wisdom teeth pulled... LOL

I got that thing over a year ago and since then, it was sitting in the box in my room, I've never installed it. It is supposed to work and is holding boost fine according to the guy I got it from. Since I don't have any time to work on the car and build the downpipe after etc etc, I'm just selling it and staying NA slow, until I can pay somebody to do the work.

For the mani, I could buy it back since I basically gave it away but that's the last thing I want to deal with.

is there any shaft play at all? any chance you could take a nice close up of the compressor wheel?

i'm interested, but i dont have all the money right this second. if you'd hold it for like a month i'd give you like a $100 non refundable deposit...?

I got mine locally, from a guy who parted a GTR (apparently, there are a lot of people who run GTR here, guessing because of all the JDM shops). Like I said in the first post, it has no side to side play but has a slight minimum in-out play. There is no oil in either the comp or turbine housings and it looks fine, but I'm no expert. I read that it's normal for BB turbos to have some in-out play but I dunno and I don't care anymore since my built motor went to **** and I have no use and no time for working on this. I asked a shop to diagnose the turbo and they told me that they will take it all apart, replace everything and rebalance no matter what (i just asked for an inspection, not a tear down), a 500$ job, and they are telling me it's not a BB. So I'm not gonna deal with them since they won't listen to me and it's up for sale.

I don't want to deal with deposits but if I still have it in a month, it's yours. There is somebody interested in it though right now, I'll keep you posted.
