is there going to be any kind of warranty?

FWIW, I have January 31 circled as the drag testing day with a dyno session mixed in before then. Power should be in the high 600s at the crank.

good god! If it lasts one pass on that then they should be golden
I live my life a quarter pounder at a time. And for those 500 calories or more, I'm free. I need FRIES! Two of them. The big ones. Oh, and I need them tonight. You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.

I rather this be tested to the point where it is capable of surviving a nuclear blast and ait a bit longer over haivng it faster but not thoroughly tested...

The good thing is (for those not on the current buy) that it'll be available after as well. Even without the savings of the hardware, it will still be less than half price of the Quaife unit and more in line (pricing wise) with the rest of the import world.

So, if you [Dan] blow it up, that doesn't mean it can't handle my 200HP. Is there any way to "Dumb it down" to say, 200HP, and increase boost each run? Testing to failure, or 600HP (whichever comes first) would be the best way to do it.

I honestly believe the rest of the transmission will fail long before the diff does.

Not counting the diff pin's weak rol-pin and it's tendancy to shear off, the stock differential is many times stronger than the gears or the case which it is all installed.

The one thing that all you guys are missing is that this LSD is the EXACT same one, just modified to fit in our tranny as the ones they are running in all the Honda race cars, both auto-x and drag racing ones, and they have not failed. Steve even said that there is one in their race car that is close to 900 HP and it's doing just fine.

I really doubt that Dan (or anyone, really) is going to have a failure problem with these diffs. They are BEEFY. Eric is right, this is pretty much just a re-scaled version of their honda design i'm sure. Still worth testing though, just in case.

Right now i'm waiting for bearings, speedo gears, and my new shop press to come in. Hopefully they arrive before the weekend so i can test fit things and get the diff sent out to Dan on Monday.

I took apart the original trans from my car last night (which i removed not because it failed, but it was making some nasty vibrations during right turns under power). Turns out... the stock diff is definitely the weak link! One of the side gears had several cracked (but not yet chipped) teeth, and BOTH spider gears were missing more than half of their teeth... see cell phone pic below. Everything else appears to be in good shape! This is the trans that i ran for all of 07, i went 12.61 @ 111 on this thing lol.

I'll be test fitting using both this trans and an escort SPI trans (with kia internals... leftovers from my trans build) - this should cover both early and late variants of the G-series.

Thats why I am doing the swap too. If the open diff goes it will make a pretty large bang and you would have to spend the money anyway.

Is the SPI and ZX2 transmission similar enough to garuntee fitment? I'm a bit worried about the speedo gear fitting.

internally they are identical to the Kia stuff aside from ratios of the gears.

Jons current transmission is SPI gear in a Kia/SPI box

another member had ZX2 SR internals in his box.

and the speedo gear should fit, and if not use the mazda one, they are the same
