        Those fools should have knocked on my door, but he/she was too lazy to walk another 50 feet from the communal mailbox to my doorstep...I'll get it monday at 9.

        As for the PAR set, it should be about $3500 for the 1-4 set. I opted for straight cut dog engagement (no synchros), and right now we're choosing the gear ratios.

          My local courier will park in the driveway and honk the horn if I have a package. It annoys me to no end. I'll wait until he finally gets out of the car and halfway to the door and I'll walk outside.

            Finally somebody building the other half of the equation...after all the people spending thousands on the engine and whining about broken trannys...

            Are you doing anything special with the bearings?

              No extra work on the bearings. With the straight cut gears the side loading inherent with helical gears is largely removed. I lose some surface area, but gain it back by having the wider gears (since there will be no synchros that opens up a little real estate to run wider gears).

                    Alright, here are pics. The post office dropped the box at least several times in transit - the pics speak for themselves. Hopefully there is no damage.

                    Overall, the LSD looks good. The thread on the bolts is a little bit rough, but given that it was a last minute machined item I think that's acceptable. Hopefully the production units will be cleaned up.

                    Because I want to eliminate any source of possible user error, I will have a shop professionally assemble the gearbox to ensure a perfect fit. This may add a little bit of time to the equation, but if we're gonna go to the trouble of doing this, we'll do it right the first time.

                    The last 2 pics show the LSDs size compared to a full sized STi

                      damn i guess you werent kidding when you said they screwed up the box!

                      did you get the races for the bearings? i had wrapped them up seperately as well.

                        Pics look good

                        Yeah, don't worry about the production bolts, as mentioned, these were just samples that were quickly machined up.

                        Dan: Although the straight-cut gears remove the axial loads (i.e side thrust loads), they increase the radial loads by a significant amount, especially on a dogbox. Make sure you use fresh bearings at the minimum, or upgrade them to higher load bearings.

                          Yup - PAR makes special cups that allow you to use beefier bearings if you machine the gearbox casing. Those will be ordered as well.
