I just did the PS to HP conversion---about 246 Hp---now that's what I'm talking about!!! Figure out how to do that for about $8k and we'd really have a fun escort that would slaughter the clubracing/rally world...

get that cheaper and we would have more of those running around. making 246hp would cause alot of other problems. flyinmiata's kit goes to 84.5mm bore for safety, wouldn't 85.5mm cause stress to the block?

It's certainly fun dreaming about this stuff---I guess at some point my goal would be to have a small online store where I guy could go at 2am and build an entire car/plan out his project/budget and after a couple of clicks/reasonable amount of manufacturing/shipping time have a "kit" show up at his house to start assembling a fun racecar. The chassis/construction of these cars is still a great usable platform and competitive---the gearbox/track/wheelbase overall weight/even aero is still comparable to more modern stuff---the HP is harder to get, but I don't think anyone has really developed the BP seriously.

The BTCC cars, WTCC cars, our World challenge cars make 280HP N/A out of 2.0 engines (and many started out as 1.6 or smaller). I'd like to see someone develop engine parts for these---I know the miata guys have stroker kits, but we need a head/cam/intake/TB package to compete with the Honda stuff---Anyone up for the task???? Now I may be dreaming...
If you can get a "kit" for all the chassis suspension stuff at an affordable price, you'd convince me to ditch the Celica as my main project, and i'd go buy another BG. Seriously.

As for power... If i wasn't knee-deep in projects right now, i'd give it a shot. A lot of people knock the BP for it's n/a capabilities, and perhaps rightfully so. But... i haven't really seen anyone run truly high compression on one of these things. 11:1 isn't high. I'm talking 13:1. I've run Hondas on pump gas at 13.5:1. With the prevalence of E85 these days, you could probably at least hit that in a BP. Would it become interference? Absolutely. Do i care? Nope.

The problem that slows down the BP's n/a development is that it's SOOOOOOOO easy to boost one and make more power than you would n/a anyways. Not to mention, cheap. Most of us don't run the BG chassis because we're rich.

BG is short for BudGet lol

e85 and 13:1 is something I'd like to see! I say do it!

Maybe down the road... I've got my hands full right now with three projects.

I think my next n/a mazda build will be a crazy high compression/cammed/itb'd K8 in a Miata. Couldn't think of anything better to do with my spare K8. :D

Hey guys---haven't forgot about this, just been working on customer cars for a bit. I did jig up one of the arms this week---I built it for the stock balljoint rather than the spherical---will make the arm more affordable. I may mock up an arm next week, allthough I have to have the pins machined still---but I do have a design in mind...anyrate a couple pics of the stock mx3 arm/jig.

Yes---front will be a rodend, the back a bushing---the front bushing adds all the stiction/resistance to motion...

Better question would be how to do the rear bushing/pin deal---actually that's already been taken care of very nicely...if I could only get that money tree behind my shop to bloom again.
