Much closer to 5lbs. I was thinking of letting the group buy run through next weekend if that works for everyone?

Cool, i can deal with that, then.

I'll go on the list in that case and the group buy timeframe. Can't swing it right now since i'm in "buy nothing but things that make this car run" mode.

      Oh, right... Chromoly double, here.

That deadline works, I'm in for a chromoly double bar.

Also, I've got an MX3 RS and 3G SPI at my parents', what measurements do you guys need?

Cool Ben, I'll have James add you to the list---would you like the single/double bar in DOM/Moly?

Atomic your in---maybe measure across the front inner strut bolts from bolt center to bolt center and make sure we're around 39 1/4". I'm trying to figure out what the easiest measurement for height would be---Ferdi had a good Idea about taking a straight edge across the fenders centered over the struts and then dropping a tapemeasure down to the top of the manifold---I'll take a pic later today when I get into the shop illustrating the measurement. Thanks guys!!

I can do that tonight/tomorrow before work if that works for you- I don't have a straightedge, but a level should be close enough, right?

Someone on FEOA mentioned about clearing the dipstick tube and A/C on a CVH/SPI. I dont remember where that stuff is at anymore but if you can go off the pictures in this thread to determine if that will be a problem, that would be great. I kinda doubt it is a problem but its good to be sure.

I know a local guy with a ZX2 that I can check as well, although I dont think that will be anymore of a problem then a SPI car.

Also Atomic can you verify if the hood slopes more toward the front of the MX3 then say the escort. It seems thats the problem with the MX3 equipped with a V6. The manifold sits high and then the hood intereferes?

Yes a level or even a long straight 2x4 if you have one

Added both of you guys to the list.

IIRC the dipstick tube isn't any higher than the IM on those boat anchors. Are they worried about the A/C lines or something? The 3G is my little sister's car so it still has all that stuff, so that should be easy enough to check.

My MX3 is an RS so I'm not entirely sure if that will help, I know it has an eBay Protege strut bar on it though. If you could maybe make an illustration of the measurements you want from that I can get those too.

I can check zx2 zetec measurments after college lets out today. It has an iceman cai, so you will know if it clears that. I don't have the stock air intake anymore, but if it clears the iceman intake, I should think it would clear the stock intake, as I "think" the iceman is taller than the stock intake. Also, if you need an sefi 1.9 escort measurment, I can go and check that in the next few days. (it's not stored at my house, so I can't do it today.)

Yeah the comment was about the dipstick tube and the A/C lines, but if I remember correctly, the A/C lines are not really a problem and routed no differently then they are on my car. If they are it can be "messaged" out of the way, but I just need to be sure it will be ok.

Let me make a seperate post about how we should measure everything.

I have them also Knew they fit fine, its just clearance for different manifolds/engine combinations

Measureing for manifold and hood clearance:

Anyone who wants to help can follow these steps. It will help us determine how to modify the bar for other cars.

Thickness of the OE hood: On the edge of the hood measure from the top side to the bottom of the support rib on the edge. This is the part that meets the fender.

Curve of the OE hood: Put a straight edge on the underside of the hood where the center of the struts would be. Measure from the top edge of whatever your using to the bottom of the hood support rib in the center of the hood.

Manifold height: Put the straight edge across the tops of the fenders where the center of the struts would be. Measure from the bottom of whatever your using to the highest point of your intake manifold or whatever is higher. Also measure from the bottom of whatever your using to the top of the strut tower where the end plate on the strut bar would go.

I think that should be all we need.

In for a double chromoly bar, assuming you will ship to Canada. Deposit will be sent tomorrow night.

Edit: Also, I don't want the tab for MC brace, unless you want to mirror it for RHD for me.
