this is a wanted to buy thread, not a want to build, i would be willing to take it apart to get it over the border, ive got a couple friends that would even help..... my EGT is a daily driver, this is a toy... weekend sleeper... im not combining the two... even though it would be neat.... the only way the escort is going to get an engine swap, is if it gets rear wheel drive at the same time.

^^ sounds like a plan to me, RWD escort it is!

Just kidding man, you could have a friend in Florida register it in their name, then buy it off of them after they get the title in the mail. Its legal to register them in Florida

did a little research on importing a car from canada to the us, and its a mega pain in the arse... i am unable to find any info on importing a shell, and then importing an engine... say buy the car, remove engine, and trans, and bring one by one over the border...

but then you still can't register it till 2017 or so depending on the year of the car

The GT/GTX/GTR/GTae bumpers didn't pass the safety inspections which is why we only get the lame usdm bumpers and no fancy GTXs/GTRs/GTaes. You would have to sacrifice one to the testing commission after making the necessary modifications (headlights, bumpers, should be it). Once they total that car and approve it, you will have the only import license in the country. From there you can import to your heart's content for other people too, provided you make the required modifications.

can you swap out a 1.6 turbo for the 1.8 turbo, and leave it awd for the early bf cars?

Yes, its been done many times. I don't remember what was involved in the swap, but I believe that some of the bottom bolts for the transmission don't line up with the BP but the rest of them should.

just to be clear the 1.6 turbo in the BF GTX is not the same as a Ford EXP, which is like a 1st generation escort, it had a 1.6 turbo CVH engine...

I paid 10 500$CDN for my famillia gtr. It's over priced but I don't have any regrets, it worth it you can trust me.

It's not just only a turbo, you also get one of the best braking system. ABS electronic system, controled by PCM, that include a "G" sensor to control both straight and lateral braking. At 100mph going straight, you can do hard braking without toutching the steering wheel and the car will still going like on rails, it's awesome. That system apeared in the STI in 2005, that giving you an idea...my car is a 1993.

The ECU, is mapped for 18-20psi, so you can expect 290WHP easily just by changing the clutch for a stronger one, the exaust and a simple boost controller.

Not to mention the feeling. You drive a car that existed in only 2200 examples in world!! it worth all the coins you can trust me.

Soon to be MS3X, COP and 28psi!
-2008 Mitsubishi Evolution X MR, AEM turbo inlet system, 3" magnaflow exhaust.
                              -2006 Pimped Grand Caravan 3.8L GT40...I'm kidding, it's stock

That is correct. And you can swap a BPT with BPT trans (cuz you'll probably get one anyway and it's way way better) into a BF in a weekend if you really wanted to and have all the parts.

Or just do what I did and buy one already swapped.
