Chances are you'll need to swap ring gears and re-use the V6 ring gear since they'll probably be different gear ratios

2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

yeah I was afraid of that. I might just have the axles welded up so that I can be back on the road ASAP, especially since I can't find an XR2 IM shaft at the moment.

swapping the ring gears isn't all that hard, just grind off the head of the rivets pound out the rivets with a hammer (they'll be tight coming out) and to re-install just get some grade 8 bolts, i needed to grind the nuts down a bit to clear the gears so i welded the nuts to the bolts to make sure they'd never come apart and welded a bit from the ring gear to the diff for added security

yeah I didn't want to get into all of that, plus the lack of IM shaft. I still need BG front hubs so I can get my axle lengths right. Its going to be cheaper/quicker for me to do that right now, then I'll work on gathering the stuff to swap trans guts. I am thinking SPI escort 97+ so I can have some good 4th and 5th gears for cruising without sucking a ton of fuel.
