For 2wd, I actually prefer my plate because the motor stays at the stock height instead of raising it and it uses more bolt holes, but it doesn't take into account proper 4wd transfer/driveshaft alignment. I've never offered to sell it because yours exists, plus I ran groupbuys for engine mounts that work with your plate.

Would you be interested in doing another group buy for your mounts should a new plate group buy happen?

Im really sorry for my post about the plate , i was just under the impression , we were on our own to do it and thought you didn't make them anymore and weren't on the forum anymore. But il be more then happy to buy ures instead of trusting some elses work. If its ok , u can also put me down for one.

I don't wanna come across as raining on Tim's parade. He makes a very nice adapter plate and it will do the job. Just go into that job with your eyes open. It might not be a huge PITA as an e153 fwd only swap ( I don't know. Hain't done one myself. All I know is Jon's build thread wasn't as difficult as mine), but getting the awd setup to work and work properly, well, having done it once, I don't think it's worth doing twice. Much as I like the idea of taking the weak link outta my street car and turning the engine up to 11, it ain't gonna happen. Now maybe if there were an adapter plate to let the fe3 talk to the gt4... and turn it up to 12...gah... it'd be easier to make payments on a damn evo.
To wrap up, the swap is full of land mines and moneypits and if you don't have access to a full shop with a 2 post lift and a trans jack and a welder and lots of fabrication skills don't even think about it. see my build thread for all the sordid details.
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

^^^ I hear ya. I'm about to go down that road, but I think I keep stalling because of the pain see in my future. Maybe I SHOULD sell the Proteges and the GT4 drivetrain and go buy an EVO.....

May I ask why you don't wanna turn it up to eleven now that you have the GT4 trans in? I often consider just buying an evo or an STI, almost did and still may, but the thought of turning my lil GTX into a monster gets me hot and bothered.

Only if there are at least 7 sets.

His rally car has the GT4, not his street car.

.. and it's getting turned up as much as the !@#$&^%$ 34mm restrictor will allow...

Hmm just a quick question since apperently i cant use the toyota forums because im a bot and i dont wana start a new topic just for asking a stupid question like this.
Does the e153 and the e53 use the same bellhousing? I can find a e53 really cheap. Thanks

I have read that the e53 isn't as strong or nice of a transmission as the 153, which in my mind would negate the reason for swapping in the first place. Anyways, bump for interest still. I don't want this to die.

Allright , i got the e53 box , so now all i need is an adaptor plate to test if it will still work. If it does work with the e53 box it will make finding a box a little easier for the other guys.

                      also a free bump.

I'm not sure why finding an e153 is an issue, they came in a ****-ton of cars

huh, I've got two of them and paid I think $300ish for both.

might want to check the E153 swap thread as I'm fairly sure someone already tried that box and it didn't work

glad everyone else wants one too!
I only said sell the design or reverse engineer one in case the original designer lost interest/time to do these!

It would make sense if the brackets and plates were sold together if both are tested and proved as this takes a big chunk of the fabrication work out.

                              Cheers
