Well I suppose its time for me to introduce myself.
I just picked up a 90 4wd 5speed. Its kinda beat up and needs body work. But I already have a bpt/trans sitting in the garage for it, so thats pretty cool. I also have a 88 gtx, a 90 miata, and a 2000 miata that I'm planning on selling once the weather breaks in the midwest.
So yeah, this is pretty much my first post on the cp forums. I guess you could call me a refugee from the old 323performance forums. Just saying hi to everybody here and its good to become a part of this community. Take it easy.

thank you. yes it is full time 4wd. 3 open diffs. when you lock the diff it gives it perfect 50/50 power distribution front/rear. though with the open front and rear diffs it doesn't matter it's still gonna transfer power to the slipping wheels in the front and rear.

I've got one!!
Ok, well, I've ALMOST got one. Deposit has been put down on it, I'll be picking it up in the next few weeks sometime.
It's the same one that jjmundt bought...
1990 Protege AWD 5spd...steel blue with nasty beige interior.
Found in Denver, CO. July 31st. Purchased August 3rd. 158k miles, worn clutch, very dirty interior, a ding or two in every panel, very minor rust bubbles around windshield. Runs good but needs just about everything, but it was perfect for the $900 I spent.
BPT/GTR candidate and am hoping for an interior color change to charcoal/black/something dark.
Car now resides with me in the Des Moines, IA area.
Fortunately, I've got my JDM GTX front clip, still hanging around, with the transmission, shifter, and everything else, so it'll get a better transmission eventually.
I'm thinking maybe a tightly-wound N/A BP, or possibly a full-on BPT setup. Haven't made up my mind yet on that front.
I'll definitely be soaking in the knowledge vat when it comes time to play with this one..

Mmmm, I have (for short distances) ran upto 65mph with the diff lock on, in wet snow. It sure was fun listening to the whirring of tires and then a small bang and dry pavement was found. oops. Nothing broken either! Soo, a short dirt rally should be fine, but once on you can't turn it off should the whole "4wd steering lock hop" thing bother you. I personally liked it. Made me feel like a truck
diff lock on varying traction surfaces = bad. lol
90-93 miata diff the same, just different housing. That's your best bet for a cheap LSD. the 94+ and RX7 used a larger diff, which you could attempt to shoehorn in there, but I don't know what the ratios are, if they match up. I'd look for the group A if you're going all out.
I like the feel of a NA motor, but I think the BP is just too small to give me the tq I want. BPT all the way.No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.

you want a 90-93 miata lsd, and you have to swap the ring gear from the stock diff onto it. its a different ratio.
oh yeah, i have a 4wd protege tooEscort GTR -- 11.87 @ 117.6 mph -- 320 HP / 325 Ft. Lbs. @ 23 PSI
