Yea, cause lets say you go to crank the car in cold weather. Itll melt that fuse like butter because the engine oil is so tick its making the starter work double time and its drawing at peak 220 amps.
I had that problem a few times, so i found a spring and got a agu holder and every time that spring heats, it breaks contact til it cools. Think of it as poor man's circuit breaker.
To fuse it is pointless. You already got one fuse in the main box.

      A. Fuses pop after being exposed to WAY over their peak amperage for about 3 seconds. Starter only draws max current for about a second

      B. A fuse is a good saftey precaution.
      Warning long story
On my friends EF he ran his amp power wire over the exhaust hump. One day he lifted his e brake lever and severed his power wire. Now he's a dumbfuc- and instead of just disconecting his battery he just hops out of the car and hopes it takes care of it self. Well it didnt. Lets just say I get a call and he needs a battery. He destroyed all sorts of things that day because he's a dumbfuc- and the last time he blew his amp fuse he just direct conected it to the battery. Stupid things can happen.

electronic circuit breaker. best option. also, most expensive option. toasting electronics and a battery suck. probably cost more to replace than the ecb.
No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.

I got all my parts today. I just got to go to buy a battery tomorrow. Hopefully I can work on this tomorrow.
I live my life a quarter pounder at a time. And for those 500 calories or more, I'm free. I need FRIES! Two of them. The big ones. Oh, and I need them tonight. You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.

I installed everything today. It took about 6 hours. I took my time also I didn't have all the tools I needed but everything turned out very nice. I did not have my camera for any of the install but I will snap a few pics tomorrow. Most the interior isn't put back together yet.
Also the 150A fuse is great. I doubt I will have any problems with it.

So after working all day yesterday, This is what I had left:
              Put the interior back together.

              Strap down the battery

Figure out something to do with the distribution block. The cover wouldn't snap in with it screwed to a convex surface.

              Random pictures before finished:

You can see the power wire through the hole for the old lap belt.

              Ground to strut tower

I put some rubber hose behind the battery to protect it from getting punctured by those screws

Had to cut the trim a little bit

I wanted to make a new hole for the wire but did not want to spend a few extra hours pulling the dash so I ran it through the emission harness hole.

              To the alternator

              To the main fuse block.

Below the fuse box you can see the two wires I cut, one is for the alternator the other is for the starter/battery. You can un hook them both and screw the power from the distribution block to the terminal on the inside of the main fuse.

              To the starter

Before I taped up the wires

              Engine shot no battery

Relocated some relays and a couple grounds from the other day. Also no washer fluid resevoir.

              Distribution block

              Finished battery

              Notes:
The battery box tie down isn't very reliable. I will upgrade that soon.
I need to find something to cover the connector to the alternator. The thing from the starter will do. I'll nab one from the yard next time I go.
The fuse box needed modded a little to fit the connector I was using. You might have to do it. You might not. Be careful.

              Also:
This is what I did to my vehicle, what you do to your vehicle is your responsibility

well, as far as I can see, its a fairly good job. Skipped the pita parts, but got the basics and important stuff done. Looks nice.

like climbing under the dash to one of the other holes in the firewall. .....yeah, that's about it really. and really that's just laziness, since isn't not that hard at all. go ahead, elaborate on how difficult it is to work on these simple cars, use big words too. mmmmmm, big words....

What other hole? I did not want the battery cable on the other side of the car. Neither did I have enough cable. The only thing I would have done different is pull the dash, then the blower box, find a sutible place to drill a hole and then use a 2 ga firewall grommet. Thats about 2-3 hours of extra work. I have to switch the dash out anyways but I have other things I will want to do behind the dash also. So i'm going to do it all at once. I may still move the wire after I pull the dash. I really don't know what other hole you're talking about....

really? there was a hole with a grommet in it just a few inches from the engine harness grommet. its where I routed all my random cables, 120V for the heater, 12V for the sub, etc. I'll see if I can find a pic.

Well I looked for about 30 mins. The only other hole I saw in the firewall was for the hose from the evaporator.

i don't mean to sound like a noob, but why do all that stuff anyways (adding fuses, ect)? What's the harm in just running one cable from the front to the back, and then grounding it at the back? If you are just extending the stock cable to the back, isn't it the exact same setup as stock?

By that logic why fuse the power cable to your amp in the trunk.

lol, i don't know what you mean. I'm just saying, if you run it the exact same as stock, with just a longer cable going to the back instead of ending at the engine bay, that would work too, right? It would have the same advantages and disadvantages as the stock system....right? lol, someone tell me if that is wrong or if I am missing something....
