    for the pro's

am currently doing an install and want to weight the merits of using a common ground for all the components for noise issues. essentially running a small ground wire from the deck to the active x-overs and amps as well as using a larger gauge ( short) to the chassis for amp grounding. would this eliminate the dreaded alternator whine or @ least help suppress it ? already running my signal cables seperate from power and keeping the leads for the front speakers away from both signal and power. any other tips? the car has been well sound deadened so i am looking for a really really low noise threshold
