    wiring plug diagram

so here is the deal. im making my own harness for the radio. and i was wonder if anyone had a pic diagram of what wire goes to what pin.

i know i could buy one but im trying to learn to solder so i thought this would be a fun project.

now there are 2 plugs. 1 has 8 pins which im sure is the speaker plug. the other has 12 pins.

my kenwood only has 13 wires.

so im looking for a picture of the plugs and what wire goes to each pin.

edit this is what i have found. i have a dx so i may be missing wires.

thnx i do appreciate this. ive searched high and low. honestly i should have grabbed the other connector with the wires but i didnt think about that.

o yeah a tip for you guys with stock radios that may not work. dont throw it away. if you take the heat sink off there is a mini 10a fuse soldered into the board next to the plugs that you could replace and have a working deck again.

cant get the dam solder to stick to the terminal and wire, plus the plug keeps melting and making the pin move!!!! im going to try again. i will get it.

fyi i have never soldered anything but copper pipes and i did a bad job.

heat what you want to BE soldered (i.e., the wire), NOT the solder.

you can melt solder easily enough, but the point is to get the wires hot enough so that you put the solder on the wire, and it wicks in and makes a solid connection.

There's a very good chance that the soldering iron you have has too HOT of a setting, or too big of a tip, for what you're doing.

                      GOOD soldering irons are expensive.

another good thing to do is tin the ends of the stripped wires first, if you can. This means stripping the end, heating the wire, then running solder to it.

also it's handy to get some melted solder on the end of the tip, it helps transmit the heat into the wire better than a dry tip. Sometimes handy to have a small moist sponge or paper towels, to clean the tip at times, also.

                      good luck!
