Fixing tear/cut in foam rubber surrounds?

I got some nice Infinity 6002i two-ways but one of the foam rubber surrounds on the woofer has a clean cut in it radially to the center of the speaker.

Is this a decent fix or is there something that is actually designed for fixing speaker surrounds? Will black RTV work?

    Thanks!

Here are some pics, although not great.

I've heard something about rubber cement. Not too sure on this one though. Rubber cement just rings a bell.

I hate the short nose crankshaft. It took my car away from me.

To be honest, I don't think it can be fixed.
People here have advised against buying a damaged speaker (damaged rubber surround).

I damaged one of my Alpine Type-S 6.5" speakers and had a cut about the same size. I used it for about 6 months and had no idea it was damaged. It must have gotten damaged when I was putting the door panels back on... I was very surprised when I took it out and saw the damage because I did not notice any distortion or ill effects like that while I was using it. I ended up selling the set for $25 on ebay.

I got these on ebay and if I knew the surround had a cut, I wouldn't have bought them. I emailed the company that sold them to me and I am waiting to hear back on if they will take a return or give me some money back or something. We'll see.

I thought there might be a cheaper fix than paying for shipping again on a return.

Well, the place I got the speaker from on ebay emailed me back PROMPTLY.

Thank you for letting us know there was a problem with the set you received and giving us the opportunity to make this right. We will send you out a replacment speaker immediately. There is no need to send the torn speaker back to us. We apologize for any inconvinence this may have caused and we thank you for your business.

Now, how do I make rain guards for these speakers?

I used baffles. Purchased them from Crutchfield. Let mes ee if I can find the ones I used...

                    pics:

I had to cut them because the Alpine Type-S speakers did not perform well in a sealed environment.

And here's the link: Crutchfield foam baffles

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too. Needs to have air to move. Looks cool. So that's closed cell foam of some sort?

I posted the link in my last post.

All I know is that they're easy to install, really soft, easy to cut and are waterproof unless you cut them. I use mine as splash guards.

Yea. I figure I can cut a small hole in the bottom for the wires to come through and see how those sound.

I can probably find these things at a local store.

                          Thanks!
