    amp install Q

    ok so tuesday my amp will be here...... i have a few Q's for the stero masters
    wheres the best place to mount the amp?
    where should i ground it at?
    should i connect a wire of the same gauge (4) from the - on the bat to the frame? (i have herd its a good thing and ive herd its the dumbest thing in the wold....)
    ill be using 4gauge wire......

    Is it a subwoofer amp?

    Yes, use the same gauge wire for the ground as for the power wire.
    Grounding spot - depending on what kind of amp it is and where you're going to mount it, there's a couple of spots available for that purpose. I grounded my subwoofer amp on a bolt that holds the rear seats to the chassis. See pic below:



    And here's how I mounted the amp:


    The amp rack has since been cut so it's wide enough just to hold the amp, and it's been carpeted.

      yeah its This Amp ...... you guys may say its a pos but i recently herd it pushing my 2 subs and i about **** my pants! its soooooo hard core! MA Audio HK1997 1200RMS @ 2ohms and 600RMS @ 4OHMS MONO AMP

      that grounding pic helps a lot! will my amp overheat if i mount it to the underside of the back dash?......i fold my seats down to fit my snowboard in my car when i go to MT. Baker......basicly every weekend they are open!

        btw where can i get some of thos ends you have on your ground wire so i can put it on a bolt like u did?

          As long as you like it it's none of our business.
          So, did I answer your questions?

          I've seen people mounting their amps to the sub box, and it is easier than having to make an amp rack, but I don't know if it's a good idea.

              I can't answer that question, but the ring terminals you are referring to can be purchased online from www.knukonceptz.com. I paid $5 at a local stereo shop for the one you see in that pic.

                ok last question that it can think of lol.......
                what size fuse should i use?
                do i need to buy new battery terminals or just sue ring terms and put them on the bolt thingy thats on the stock 1?

                  go to like walmart and get an amp installation kit comes with everything u need then run the wires in the shortest distance possible and ground it good

                      go to a local audio shop (not mobil one-way over priced) and get an inline fuse holder with fuse and u can find ring terminals like everywhere

                        i have the fuse holder.......i just need to know what amprage of fuse to get for a 1200rms amp?.....

                          ace hardware sells the fuses for like 3 bucks from 2amps to 150.....
