    Look at this POS amp!

First off, it is SoundStorm, perhaps a take off of SoundStream? Look at the power supply! WTF? Also, how empty the board is and it's rated at 1800 watts (I know that is Max at 1 milisecond). Can we say OVERRATED?http://www.sonicelectronix.com/pictures.php?id=1969

That amp looks like a POS, but I have one of their DVD player for the car and it works pretty darn well. WE had it in the MPV before we got rid of it. Not sure if I want to integrate it into some type of system for the P5.

You guys realize that having more components has nothing to do with the quality or power of an amp, right? It might have been like than back in the 80s or something... but now we have stuff called ICs which stands for "Integrated Circuits".

meh, i'm no electrical engineer, but i don't see any IC's on the two amps Blue posted... mainly point being.. look at the massive wires used in the first picture he posted, the number of capacitors, the size of the resistors/diodes.. pales in comparrison to the soundstorm's board. bottom line, i'm a simple guy, i have no idea what these components have to do with an amps overall output, but the amps blue posted look beefier on the inside.. must mean something :p:

I have seen a Pyramid amp opened and it weighed about 8 lbs. Once opened, there was a magnet on the inside panel of the bottom of the amp to make it appear to weigh more than it really was supposed to. Oldest trick in the book.

i guess that's why all those high end amps have almost nothing on the board? look at a zapco, us amps, brax, any high quality amp and show me such an empty circuit board. you're not gonna find it. there's a reason to have all those parts on the boards. no i don't know what everything is and what it does, and i don't need to. i use and install the equipment, not build it. but i can tell when something is a POS cause there is next to nothing on the circuit board

now lets look at a new high power amp, 4000 watts, conservatively rated to be specific:
