in which direction would you click it to make it run richer/make the spring more loose so the door opens more easy?

Alright, here is the deal with the injector resistor box. The ****tard who first said there is one should be shot, and I should be shot for being a bigger ****tard and believing it without doing any testing.
THERE IS NO INJECTOR RESISTOR BOX ON THE CANADIAN ESCORTS AND PROTEGES! That box is for the daytime running lights
I tested both NA and GTX injectors and all have an impedence of ~14.2 ohm! That's right, they are both high impedence injectors!!
So Chris and other Canadian GTX guys, the injectors are not a problem. Chris, your car is running lean from other reasons. One of the big ones I think is the VAF. Get an RX7 one, they are cheap. Secondly, check that you have all your grounds hooked up and that your wiring is done well. Lastly, check that you have no leak in the compressor inlet tube after your VAF.

One question I do have for you experienced GTXers - my car does not ping and it seems to be running well under boost and rich otherwise. However, the head on the motor is very hot. A lot hotter (the valvecover is too hot to touch) than the NA head got - I think - I didn't really check that too often. Is this normal - anyone have any experience with this? Pat, Jordy?

My NA engine pinged when under load (ie going uphill) - it was def something I could hear. Wouldn't I also be able to hear pinging on the GTX if I was running lean?
I want to dyno the car but it wont happen until later in the summer. I just want to be safe for now ... is there another way to tell aside from wideband O2/pyrometer/dyno?

Ok Chris, I did the sparkplug test. I pulled the plugs and the porcelain was white - so I was running lean under boost. So, I loosened the spring on the VAF to the point where the engine almost stalled out at idle ... pulled the plugs and they were black. So ... too much fuel at idle. I then drove her under boost for a little bit - pulled the plugs and surely enough, white again on the porcelain, with perhaps small amount of black (probably when I idled as I was coming to a stop)
Sooo ... Pat, did you check your plugs when you were running the NA computer ? I am afraid of driving the car much - and I don't know how to richen her up any more without stalling at idle.
I have a BTM to reduce advance, but I am having some issues wiring it in - has anyone ever wired one of those into a protege? I am following the instructions but the car wont start.
Anyways, let me know guys

Another update - I loosened the spring on the VAF to the point where my idle is sitting at what the stock NA was - about 800 RPM. It isn't too smooth with the solid mounts but it will have to do.
Did a bit of a drive on the highway, some hills - loaded the motor as well as ran it lightly ... normal driving conditions. Pulled the sparks at the end of all this and they are finally the tanned colour I was looking for. My A/F gauge now tells me I am running rich all the time except for when I hit the throttle (when it runs lean for a second (literally)) and then quickly returns to rich as the computer compensates.
I will get the car on the dyno and get final results on all this but things feel pretty safe right now.
