I swap a 1.8 bpt Gtx engine into my 93 escort gt. I'm having some small issues, I was wondering if anyone could help me out? This is my setup:
Gtx engine
Front mount intercooler (mitsubishi starion)
3" downpipe
3" exhaust
3" muffler
waldro 255 inline fuel pump
vortech fuel pressuer regulator 6-1 ratio
stock escort gt ECU
Hks mushroom filter
Greddy type-s bov
NKG Iruidem spark plugs
soon to be install Apex S-AFC II
Problems that I'm having:
High Idle- I've tightened the throttle all the way down, and it still idles high.
The temp gauge never moves to the middle after the engine is warm. It go's up a little past the C and stops.
Boost- I'm boosting 15psi, and I don't know why. I haven't found any vaccum leaks or anything. I know the the stock boost is set around 7psi. So, did the boost go up becase of the larger intercooler, downpipe and exhaust? (more efficent) Or could there be something wrong with the internal wastegate? I even hooked up a line pressure gauge pumped it up, and it stoped at 15lbs on the gauge.
Fuel- The car runs super rich. Sounds like I have cams. But I think the S-Afc II will take care of this issue.
