My V6 KL Swap...

    yea, my friend came by to looka t it, and he was messin with it, and we came to the conclusion that the maf isnt working at all. The car idles like the maf isnt plugged in, and it doesnt get any worse when i unplug it. I dont know the harness could be baad.. but i doubt it..

      I think you could check for maf voltage at the back of the ecu with the harness plugged in and car running. That should tell you what signal the ecu sees. O2 sensors have nothing to do with it; I've been running my car without for months with no problems except slightly lower gas mileage. Dude! We gotta get this thing running already!

        hey... i'm a noob at this... umm... i didn't see how you bolted up the motor.

        which mounts did you use... and how many mounts did you have to fabricate?

          d00d your tach is off in that car, a 4cyl tach sends a different signal than a V6 Tach, that is why the revs get up so fast. I can get you an MX6 Tach cluster to fix it, but trust me its not really 8K when you hit it.

            8k on the tach = about 5.3k in reality

            besides if you swapped a kl into your car (the kl engine has a 7000 rpm rev limiter) and used the proper ecu, the engine would never reach 8000 rpm's anyway.

              i had the proper ecu, it was a 626 v6 5spd ecu, and it was 7k....i honestly didnt believe it was 8k, but it was just weird to see my proteg tach go that high..lol

              but that car s gone so noneed for the mx6 tach... but a 6 swap will be begining soon stay tuned!!

                No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.

                          yea thats what i was gonna go with, or attempt.. maybe a whole new dash with aftermarket gauges? ive always liked that...but fiberglassing is not my thing...lol

                            WOW!!! great thread guys... im doing this swap in a few weeks... i already picked up the kl-ze, a low mileage 626 tranny, KL-05 ECU and KL-02 VAF, im buying a mx-3 gs from the junk yard, and im getting a speck stage 2 clutch. My buddy The riel deal and a few other of my friends are going to be doing the swap into my bg 323.

                            i have a question on fueling.
                            will my 1.6 sohc pump work? should i swap it out for the mx3 one?

                            im sure ill be active on this thread and hopefully grab some pics too...

                              where are ya getting the spec stage 2 clutch matt? i thought you were gonna use my old ACT?

                                all the pumps are the same from the 323 all the way up to the millenia, so u should be good!
