My V6 KL Swap...

    i get different responses when i ask if a strait neck can be used or not... some say yes some say no.. whats the deal... can i make a tube that wraps around the break booster or does the manifold itself hit?

      there is a way to make it fit.. but i dont know how. i have 2 friends that do know how. But i never seen how they did it themselves. but there is a way!

            My bud is using the straight neck in his swap. He said he needs to figure out about some pipe thats connected to the main intake pipe. It's hitting the brake booster. When he figures it out I'll post up.

              Are you talking about the straight neck KLDE or straight neck KLZE?

              The DE will bolt right up with no modifications.

              The KLZE will require the master cylinder to be relocated or modified as in the photo below.

              Since the flow differences between the KLZE (modifications required) and the Millenia (curved neck, square ports on the runners) are minimal, I'd recommend using the Millenia IM. Also, the VRIS points of the Millenia IM are very near to the KLDE, so using the KLDE ECU means you retain good torque across the powerband.

                he's got a straight neck ZE manifold... so i guess we're going back to the junkyard to gank an intake mani off one of the 3-4(!!) millenia's they had there.

                      I have decided that after reading about all this V6 swapping, that I want one. So I am going to start collecting parts for this swap into my Escort LX. Which is the better KLZE to buy, curved or straight neck? also what's up with the KLZE dropping valves? can this problem be prevented? I want to freshen this engine up and get it ready before I put it in my car, to make it as reliable as possible for my DD.

                          jitb37 did you have any problems with the shift linkage. my shift linkage is hitting the down pipe

                            No not at all, but i did have a custom ypipe on mine.. but u can see in the pics, that its not hitting it at all.
