My car did not ping with the NA ECU ... so as long as you dont mind the poor fuel economy, it's fine to run that ECU.

IF you got the 90-92 dx fuel pump barcket u can use those Fuel pumps without any modification to the mounting bracket. I fyou have the 93-94 than u wil lhave to modify the bracket a bit, and or bend some metal around..lol
              waste of ****ing money.

255lh HV walbro kit was $116 shipped for my egt, looks the same for a protege.

                use the LX Throttle body?

if that's the case, can i use the 1.6L B6 Throttle body for the DOHC?, at least to get me home? both are 3 pin.
use the lx one... gtx / auto bp is only necessary if you want a throttle position signal (like for an safc or sems)

im not taking sides, just sharing what i know... but i have heard something like 90% or ping is unaudible, especially with a loud aftermarket exhaust, thus the reason for a knock sensor... so while many dont hear it im sure either they are running super pig rich or they are pinging some.. without proper wideband tuning with the afc im sure that hardly anyone can hit that fine line of little to no ping (at an unaudible level) and too rich... which is not fuel economy efficient and *if* your running a high flow cat or even a stock cat a rich condition will kill it since it is there to complete the buring of the hc's (unburnt fuel).

                  so i ask you

being patient and waiting for the opportunity to purchase a gtx ecu = 250 dollars

                  or

running your na ecu, killing your cat, risking destruction of motor (if pinging is a problem). possibly a 150-500 dollar problem

while reading posts like this i tend to open up a bit, infact just before reading this one i was trying to convince my buddy quickegt to just be patient and wait for a gtx ecu, but i have opened up and learned to except that an na ecu will do the trick in the time being... but its up to you if you really feel that your peticular motor can take the abuse so be it but if your questioning it at all id say better to be safe at 250 bucks than to be sorry at 500 and still not be safe, just be running again.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

You do not need TPS hooked up to run the car. You will get poorer fuel economy without one, but don't need it none the less. If the B6 throttle body fits the manifold you can run it. The TPS DOES NOT need to be plugged in.

you should buy new vavle cover gasket, distributor o-ring, oil pan gasket, change the rear main cranshaft seal ( its nof fun to remove the engine 2 day after the swap its done, hapen to me) its only 30$ cnd at mazda. new timing belt / water pump. that all i remember for now.

i'm runing the stock escort gt fuel pump at 10 psi and i made 164whp and 158 tq. but i'm ordering a walbro pump this week.

you should check into the apexi turbo time. its fun to have and you get a good a/f reading with that thing. mine cost 130$ cnd

might as well swap over the injector haness and rail from your LX to the GTX and you have to do no splicing ... obviously keep the GTX injectors.

Remember that your stock LX clutch won't hold the power ... either get the GTX one or an ACT/SPEC.

Going turbo is not cheap. Either way you look at it, the maintenance is more expensive and you will have to fab up an intercooler and exhaust.

i heard you can run the 1.8 SOHC ECU, due to the fact the SOHC has a lower timing degree, and also doesn't have VICS. i've heard of some guys down in mexico running like 11 seconds with the N/A SOHC ECU. also what size are the GTX injectors? 330cc? the n/a are what? 270cc?
