Alright, the Scortege blew the head gasket last week, and possibly warped the head. So, rather than rebuild or replace the puny 1.9L, I'm going to be stealing the motor out of my dad's $80 MX6. I need some info, though, to be sure I understand everything correctly.
I have a basic understanding of what I need, but one thing that concerns me is tranny. I know the 5spd would be better, but can I use the auto tranny? The MX6 I'm going to be using as a parts donor is auto, but the trans is blown. So can i get another auto trans, or do I have to swap to 5spd to make it work in the escort? If I have to swap to 5spd, can i use my v6 and just swap the torque convertor for a flywheel?
I realize I need engine, MAF, ECU, wiring harness, trans, shifter linkages, crossmember, axles. Am I missing anything?
