you may have something that is on its way out . sounds like you have a pulley that is intermittently sizing up on you. check the condition of the bearings on your water pump or alternator. some times they may feel ok but ones they start to heat up then they start locking up!

Cant tell you what it is that was causing the problem but I changed the alternator pulley and the belt and so far everything is OK. I didnt know that the alternator pulley was made up in two halves that bolt together.Comment
