have you fitted it with that inlet pipe yet? i feel you are going to have problems with it clearing the motor motor bracket.

Jon, I shall show you what I did with that issue in a few posts. I'm showing the pictures in order of when they happened more or less.

      Onto more pictures now!

I wasn't confident enough in my wiring/reading diagrams concerning the injector resistor box I would need to wire up for the GTR injectors in my GT harness. So I bought a set of rx7 460cc high imp injectors and rebuilt them. This way they would be a direct drop in.

Another issue I had heard about was that the vj-23 likes to boost spike. BAD. So I had the wastegate hole ported out to help with the flow. This is a picture of before and after the porting

GTR VAM fitted into my original GTX setup. I had no idea that the GTX VAM and GTR VAM had the exact same shape. It made my life simpler

Obviously I wanted to monitor my oil pressure and tempurature, so I put a sandwich plate between the oil cooler and filter. (And yeah, that's a FRAM filter. Don't worry, it's since been replaced with a Motomaster)

I had the GTR flywheel resurfaced, obviously, to use with the new clutch

Here's the clutch installed onto the GTR flywheel/motor. It's a Spec stage 1+ specifically for the GTR

Here's the GTX coming out of the car. You can see the GTR in the background under the towel

            Tranny mount issue

One issue I ran into with with the swap was the front tranny mount. It was gonna be in the way of the turbo inlet pipe. I could use the stock vj23 inlet pipe and it clears the mount, but it is small and has kinks and bends in it that make it too restrictive. It shrinks down to like 1.5" in one part. My inlet pipe was gonna be 2.5" all the way. So here is what I did. I believe ftjandra did something simliar to what I did too.

Here's where the issue was. As you can see, the mount is very close to the turbo inlet

Here's a better angle where you can really see the trouble it posed

I shaved some of the tranny off to gain the clearance I needed for my turbo inlet pipe

Here it is with my inlet flange piece fitted and the clutch line on

Here is what I did to the mount. I kept as much of the mount as possible to keep as much strength as possible obviously

This is what it looked like when all was said and done

well if any of the mounts go, you know it'll be that one. Otherwise, you did a really nice job with this swap, of the progress youve shown already

                    JACK.
I covered all the powdercoated stuff with a towel to avoid scratching it when it went in. And I was CAREFUL haha.

                    Thanks for the comments guys.

Tranny attached to the GTR. I had towels covering all the powdercoated stuff to avoid scratching it.

First stage of the GTR in. I think I just had all the mounts and stuff attached here

                      Another angle

ah, i guess that'll work for the mount... hopefully you dont crack the tranny case or anything =x.

my stock gtr inlet pipe seems to be working fine...

Ha, if the tranny case cracks from me taking off 3/8" on a little corner, I think I've got bigger issues to worry about, like when I'm putting 250+whp through it...

And your using the stock inlet pipe? It doesn't seem to be very restrictive then? Guess I coulda used it. I'm only running a 2.5" exhaust though with the stock dump pipe. I wanted to help the spool up times as much as possible I guess.

So that's that. The motor runs real good. As soon as I finish breaking in the clutch, I'll take it to the dyno to see what type of numbers I can put down.
Lemme know what you guys think.
