    AWD trans on Zetec?

If I’m not mistaking, the AWD trans out of a Mazda GTX is a G series right? So, theoretically, all I would have to do is swap a bell housing from a Zetec G5M onto it and it should bolt up...

Thanking of a Zetec powered AWD swap in my ZX2.

That is correct... in theory. I have a hunch in practice it will be much more difficult than that.

      no worky worky.

on the fwd, the bellhousing and half of the diff housing are all one piece. on the awd the situation is similar yet oh-so-different, since the rear transfer et-al is all combined.

you would have to use an adapter plate, at which point you might as well go for a much stronger AWD trans, like the toyota E153.
