    Speaking of cams;

    I wonder if it's possible to do an exhintake swap on the FE3 for even more power? I don't have an FE3, but I have been thinking about an exhintake on it since I started reading about the motor late last year.

      the cams are virtually the same. so there is zero benifit of a "exhintake" with the FE3

          Ryan, for cam setup, since that will be holding back some power, would you recommend getting them reground? or just try and try to find some overseas camshafts?

                Custom grind or a duplicate of the fe5a? It would be awesome to get some all out nasty cams!

                      from the research i have done the only cams that interchange are the F8 4cyl outa the 1983-1996 mazda 626 and that's only an option if you wanted to downgrade it.

                        as long as its the F8-dohc. saying just f8 means your talking about the SOHC f8. which there cams would not work. only the F8-dohc ones will, and thats cause its pretty much a FE3, just de-stroked

                          What cams does the Kia motor have? Feap? fe3n?
                          I searched and can't find Parts number for Kia cams.

                            sorry my bad ment F8-Dohc.

                            the kia engine comes with FE3N intake cam and KO13 exhaust cam.
                            however the good thing about the F8-DOHC you can take the exhaust cam out of it because it is the FE3N exhaust cam. so then you would have FE3N in and ex. (but that's the only good thing in the F8-DOHC compared to the FE-DOHC)

                            and yes i believe the cam gears should interchange as it's the same basic block and head (F8-DOHC) just different internals, like monoxide child said it's a de-stroked FE-DOHC
