    BP4W vs VVT

    What is(are) the main difference(s) between the coveted BP4W head and the later VVT head? Is it just the VVT stuff?

    Are the flow and port changes of the 4W head the same as the VVT head or did Mazda change it again on the later one?

    im pretty sure its still a BP4W casting. the VVT blocks have a higher flow oil pump(obviously) & the valve cover has some weird pieces on it. but the base cast looks the same. VVT oil pressure is fed from the cam gear end cap (there might be an additional hole or so(not sure). i know for sure the head design isn't worse then the BP4W

      flow design is the same between the two, just VVT added. MS3 can control VVT now as well as DIY has a standalone VVT box so in reality its the better option of the 2

        Thats kind of what I was thinking, and since I was planning on MS in the future I was curious. Plus the the VVT head is much cheaper and easier to find it seems then the BP4W head.

        I am curious how the VVT head would be with VICS.
