I wish I had something really cool to post pics of/news to share, but nothing really exciting. I'm able to put in a bit of time on them each week---we've had some challenges with them twisting actually, but we were able to easily solve it with welding sequence. I'm still working through the BG spaced units---it's going to be a long haul, but I'm excited about them and they are one of the coolest projects in the shop currently---well---I've got a 67 Rolls Royce Shadow that we're putting a corvette engine and complete corvette suspension in that's pretty cool---I really do get the oddest projects!

That is not odd, that is epic win. Build thread in general automotive w/ pix or ban!
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

While progress is progress and I love seeing any bit of it that I can, i gotta admit im getting really antsy to get my hands on this. Its been a long time coming thus far and I cant help but hope I can take the car down over the winter to take care of my plans. Loving what i am seeing regardless!

Holy crap, how did I miss this thread? I need and want one of these rear subframes for my GTR. Can I get in on this, or is it not really open as a group buy anymore?

Just wanted some clarification on this sentance here. My understanding is that there is only 2wd and 4wd subframes being made. 4wd bg and bf being the same and 2wd being for the 2wd bg to convert to 4wd. Correct?

Also, do we have a time frame for completion? I ask because id like to plan my finances accordingly.

Hey guys---I am sincerely sorry I missed the posts above---I've contacted most of you, or put phone calls in---it's crazy busy here and I've got to tell you being able to spend a few hours a week on this isn't really adding up to a ton of progress---we've had to re-do some of the bits because of a twist, but figured out how to clamp the material a bit better. I spoke with Beau and Darren---Ian I've got a call into you and for the rest of the folks I'm heading into my slow season now and will have much more time to work on them. I'll have them all completed by the end of the year---even if I have to burn up my own vacation (wife's gonna hate it!) to finish them up. The folks that have paid in full deposits Beau-Darren-and Ian for 2 will get there units first, then Sarge, Ryan, Kaleo---RedRocket give me a pm and we'll discuss it.

We currently sit with new bases together in various forms---the anchor cups are cut and most of them are welded---we've got all the sleeves although I'm waiting to weld them into the bases after I've bolted them to a fixture to make sure the pivots are not moving on us. We'll finish up the 7 units/bases---looks like 3 2wd BG spacing and 4 AWD BF spacing. Once we've got subframes together we'll start fabbing the diffs in similar to the original unit/pics. Beau's been kind enough to lend us his Toyota diff for the project---his X member will be done first, and then he'll end up having to wait on the other 6 to finish (I need the diff to fit into each unit). If by chance someone else has the Toyota diff already, perhaps we can get it to me so I can return Beau's and he can get going on his project a bit earlier. I'd be more than happy to pay the shipping cost's.

My little shop has been blowing up all year---we doubled last years gross before the 3rd quarter and will probably triple it fairly soon---and I just have the same couple of guys---we're outsourcing as much as we can---trying to manage projects---when I agree'd to take this on in the first quarter of the year I had no idea what was happening---I knew I was having a good year/quarter so far, but didn't count on it lasting/doubling. I don't ever want to say no---especially to this community/platform as it's my favorite---and I plan on continuing to develop parts for them in the future---just have to manage it all. Feel free to call me at the shop anytime you want to chat about it/have questions---310-542-2977 and we'll discuss it---leave a message if you don't get me---it's super loud here and I'll get right back to you. Pm's are great too---I'm now responding to over 100 email's/PM's a day between the forums/online stores/ebay but I answer every single one---sometimes in the evenings when I get home/late nite---but I'll get back to you. When I have something to post pics of I'll absolutely do it---I know myself how motivating it is to see them/it motivates me to shoot them! This week we're finishing up a couple of Subaru Time Attack cages, but I should be able to get a BG base welded up and I'll fire off pics. It'll be a long haul guys---but hang in there, it'll be worth it in the end, I promise!!!

Appreciate the update Jim and appreciate the call too. As far as getting a second diff, I am always shopping so if I come across one that has to ship I will be getting a hold of you to have it shipped to you instead. Looking forward to this more and more. Thanks!

Hey guys---just checking in, I've got a fair amount of time this week to work on these and was going to knock out one of the AWD bases---I wouldn't mind shipping it to someone to have them throw it in a car to check a couple of clearances up top...does anyone have a car with the BF/AWD BG up on stands/apart where it wouldn't be too much work to bolt one in and take a look at the floorpan above the diff for me? Thanks!!

Jim, I have a spare protege 4wd that I can use to check fitment and whatever else on. If it turns out its super easy to drop the rear subframe I could also check it on my bf. (I probably will regardless since Im getting one for both cars lol).

Let me know what needs to be done. I'd also recommend Darren but he is in Oh' Canada land which could add cost and complication.
