      ok. First pic, The 2 dips where the arrows are is flat on the other.

      2nd pic. Thats what you'll see under the cap. Under that black thing you should see whats in pic 3.

      Pic 3. That metal isn't all solid like pictured on a mag. Like i said, you'll know the difference when you see them side by side . I couldn't get under to get the number/letter though sorry.

        ok the magnetic dizzy has one dip instead of two. so the one on my beater is optical, and my other EGT motors probably are too.

          as long as that piece under the black piece is solid then yes its optical.

            Hmmmmmmmm. So i guess my 95 is magnetic too as i don't recall one dip let alone two when i was "marking" my stock timing by leaving some "marks"! But i guess that means that my disty might be the cause of my misfires/subpar MPG since it is NOT optical as Jon thought i would have on my 95 and thus be more reliable!

                  sweet, 95 EGTs use optical. not that that makes my car run any sooner....
                  No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.

                    both of my 95 EGT motors had magnetic distributors.... the 93 motor had an optical one, so i ripped it off and brought it back here. i'll try putting it on later this week.

                        stock it doesnt matter much. i'm thinking maybe its causing my bouncy idle problems with the MS

                          There is a stamped letter B on the disty, after the code the B signifies HALL
                          if there is no "B" its an optical.
