i dont think the GTR intake mani is doing it... ive been getting consistant mid-high 20s with mixed driving on my car, and i certainly dont baby it! i got 35mpg on one highway trip when i made a consious effort to stay out of boost. it sounds like you need to get your map dialed in a bit tighter is all. how have you been tuning? ive found that megalogviewer works WONDERS on your fuel maps. you just have to disable accel enrichment and move the throttle slowly when you are making logs that you plan to tune from.

The wideband keeps things in check under 90 KPa, but like Jon (Shades) was saying, even 15-20% throttle gives him over 90KPa. Moving the throttle beyond that does little to the manifold pressure. So he is essentially a lot of the time at WOT - especially since the engine is built for higher flow rates and higher RPM and really picks up above 4k RPM.

Unfortunately because the range of Map values he has to work with are so limited due to the response of the engine, using a Map sensor to run the car really isn't giving a large tuning range for economy.

I do agree Megalogviewer is a good way to tune.

i see the same thing in my car though... dont you? hell, i even see boost at pretty low throttle positions. maybe he should change the spacing of the MAP bins to give him more control at say 90-100kpa?

well thats ****ing i don't have any issues varying my pressure/vacum. anywhere from 15-0 why would shades have issues moving air properly?

Maybe I'm moving air too efficiently?... I did port the intake ports and open them up a bit.

The tuning is most likely affecting my gas economy... but the kPa's are set, I can't change how the motor runs.

I can't wait to get that turbo on there... I'm sure it'll hit boost very quickly.

PS. Things start much better when we changed it from 250rpm to 300rpm.

Great, I can't wait to see how she feels above 4k RPM. We can have a tune at that as well.

Alright things are starting look up... every now and then the car will act randomly bad, but she's just PMS'ing.

I wanna play with spark advance... anyone have any guidelines other than the MegaManual?

Burning about 300km's to a tank of gas... not bad, but not great.
