Hi, I have an 88 bf 323. A bpt swapped in, using old 323 gtx ecu harness and vafm. I have lurked around this forum for a long time now, and finally need some help with the tune of my ride. I am in SoCal, and have the car running, idling at 2k rpm, pig rich, and making an ugly noise at high rpms. I thought megasquirt could fix my problems. Has anyone here ever tuned a bf chasis car? The guys on our old forum said it was impossible to get the engine to run standalone on the MS, but they did have some luck with getting the megasquirt to run as a piggyback air fuel adjustment tool. The reason they said MS wouldn't work because the vafm flap was what completed the starter and ignition circuits and ms has no way of simulating the position of the vafm "flapper door".
I have read the MS posts on this forum, and was wondering what you guys are using to get rid of the AFM? Also, how are you guys getting the ignition to work on your standalone MS setups? are you using cam angle sensors to time the spark? im totally lost, because the writeups ive seen on this forum look like the whole trigger wheel setup isn't necessary, and that was the only way ive ever seen it done(on bf cars).
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
