i think the clump of duct tape and silicone amuses me the most
not that this is a laughing matter, but seriously... wow

I will clean the mess up and remove any extraneous parts/wires and touch up any soldering/wiring that doesn't look right. I will then load code and make sure it runs on my own car before it will go out. Unless something big is fried it's salvageable. I also dislike that the MCU is soldered directly to the board and not in a socket - this makes upgrading to an MS2 a bitch!

I live my life a quarter pounder at a time. And for those 500 calories or more, I'm free. I need FRIES! Two of them. The big ones. Oh, and I need them tonight. You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.
man thats bad, ive talked to jacob before he seemed like a good guy i guess not though. I know a friend that live close to me, he has been running one of Jacobs ms1 set up for his EGT for about 3 months. The car has had some minor issues but most of it was just the learning curve learning how to tune it correctly, nothing to say the ecu was bad. i told my friend to pop his case open just to peak and see if his looks like that. Lex ive been on the miata sites alot and i know there seems to be a lot of ms info for those guys, and i was thinking of running all miata sensors for the DIS set up so i could run coil over plug and using the miata cam sensors and a crank sensor what do you think? i dont know if it was you or someone else but they said converting to the ford edis wasnt worth the problems.
there is one thing i dunno what is that call,a thing look like a gun, u press the button and stick to the metal and it makes firework, do i need that thing?and what s the philip head screw drivers?
Using Linux for anything serious besides server or software dev is like using a tin can and a string for telecommunications.

oh well atleast your getting it done right this time, how long ya thinking on it lex? oh and whats the average assembly time on those, im thinking about buying one?

To fix that - hope to fix most things in an hour or so. I've just been so busy lately with the holidays ... grrr ... hope for it to be done tomorrow.
The assembly time depends on how many times you've done it and how good you are at soldering etc. I'd say that for a first timer it will take a good 4-6 hours to assemble. Then you'd need to flash software, set it up for the engine/configuration, do the wiring/harness work which will take longer than the assembly for most people and fire her up. Of course that is if you're doing everything yourself.

The simplest thing to do is run wasted spark. All you'd need is the miata CAS and I believe you can also use the stock BP DOHC disty. Coil over plug would also only need a CAS to work, but having 4 ignition drivers on the board is the tougher part.
The crank sensor is nice only if it increases your ignition resolution. A 60-2 wheel would be ideal but you'd have to mess with fitting it to the crank pulley. The later miatas came with a 4 tooth crank, twice the resolution of a 4 tooth CAS but hardly worth it. Also keep in mind that the extra resolution is only taken into calculation on the MS2, the MSI doesn't make use of it.
What I am getting at is that the simplest way to remove the disty is to run wasted spark, Miata style.
yea the soldering together wouldnt be the hard part for me i think the flashing it or whatever with the program, and the harness would take the most of my time...
