The DOHC has 2 signals from the disty and SOHC only uses 1.
The DOHC has VICS and SOHC does not

It will work i had my bg with a 1.6 sohc ecu. But the rev will be at 6k rpm compared to the 7k rpm on the dohc one. Also the vris wont work.
THE SOHC ECU WIRING DONT HAVE THE CABLE FROM THE ECU TO THE VRIS. U WILL NEED TO RUN A CABLE FROM THE ECU PIN TO THE VRIS. ITS JUST TO HAVE MORE TORQUE AT LOW RPMS.Last edited by 323 mazda; 05-26-2010, 10:57 AM.

if you have a car that came with a sohc engine n u r swapping to a bp and connecting the dohc ecu to that original wiring u need to run a cable from the pin of the ecu to the vics cuse the wiring doesn't have it and the check engine light will come up. if ur car came with a dohc and ur swapping to a sohc u don't need to do nothing. both ways it will work just fine.

OP, just use the complete ECU and wiring harness to match the motor.
