the rrfpr works when you are in open loop -- full throtle ( or closed loop, whatever it is ... someone correct me) and you use the S-AFC to control the injectors when not at full throtle and to help smooth out the idle.

Apperantly the S-afc is useless during full throtle.

We tightened the flapper door, leaning it out and I made best power. After we tuned the cam gears, I loosened the flapper door tension. We loosened it one click and did a pull. Got 2 more whp, since fuel requirements were higher from cam tuning. We loosened it another click and got another horsepower. 3whp from too clicks. Why? Because there are variables.

If our PCM was completely map based at WOT, then AFM adjustments wouldn't see any gains or losses. When I first installed my AFM and adjusted it so that it ran the smoothest, it was actually very rich. When I got on the dyno, I was down 7whp from my last dyno(from 114.9 to 107.5). We did successive pulls, tightening the flapper door each time, until we got 117.2whp. We also went one click tighter, but power went down. I left the shop with 10whp more than I came in with, because the AFM CAN be tuned.....it's actually a great tool....

sweet. Im getting a GTX engine imported to, and I ran into a sweet deal on a SAFC II from a friend. Gonna order the cartec FMU and try it out on the stock LX ecu and harness. We'll see how it works out.

Are the stock LX and Escort GT ecu's the same??

          no.

apparently the EGT guys run .5 sec faster in the 1/4 stock. It is believed to be the ECU that is the contributing factor in this discrepancy.

sweet....I think my plan then is EGT ECU, SAFC and FMU. See how long it takes me to blow it up...lol Is the EGT ecu just plug an play, or is there any splicing/fabrication needed?

you got me there. You are going to have to ask some of the egt guys.

on stock boost with the 'lx ecu' my car ran fine, it was dyno'd and put down 12-12.5:1's under boost, which is good, not the best for power but good. I think with stock boost and gtx injectors the lx ecu controls the turbo motor fine.
