Replacement Rad Fan

Hi,

My Escort GT stock fan does not clear my GTX turbo inlet pipe very well. I want a slimmer fan and I went to the local parts store where a guy quoted me $250 for a flexalite fan that I am not fond of at all.

Can you guys recommend me a thinner replacement fan? Are the ones of Ebay worth it? Any info would be great as driving around in the summer without a rad fan is getting tricky.

I got a 2.5 inch intake pipe on my turbo with the factory fan. I had to notch the motor mount a little to get more clearance.

Denis, how close is the fan to your intake pipe? At best, I can get mine to be about 5 mm away and Im afraid that with vibrations it will end up eating through the pipe I would like to keep my stock fan but I'm not sure if it will work with that little clearance

It's touching the fan, but i've never had problems before. I also have solid poly filled mounts to help keep the engine from jumping around to much.

so do I but my pipe is plastic - maybe I will wrap it in some rubber - that should work, right?

i also recommend SPAL. Installed some on an MSP a few weeks back. I've also used SPAL power doorlock actuators and power windows, all good stuff.

I said **** it and put my old rad fan in there and used a cut bike tire between it and the intake pipe so there will be do damage. I also moved the rad up as much as possible - it's a little harder to close the hood now.

A little ghetto, but it's free

i've had mine touching the stock pipe with no issues. both on my bp-turbo setup and gtx swap.
