Does it matter where VAF goes on turbo setup?

I connected the VAF to my FMIC. Before I had it coming out of the turbo like the BPT came from factory. But now I don't have the same fan, I changed it.

The car runs and idles fine. Is anyone running like this?

lol, agreed. Map Sensor pwns and is the way to go... but for those of us that are cheap for the time being... I'll try the blow through method.

Just make sure that your BOV is after the VAF (closer to the throttle body)

          If blowoff is before VAF?

its better if its before.. its much better so the Vaf can see how much air is fomming in.. also how much is released.

Do you mean the BOV before the VAF? If so, then no, then you have air going backwards through the VAF. Air backwards thru a flapper door = very bad for flow readings.

When the TB closes the air bounces back. The BOV opens to keep the air from reaching the turbo. Its recommended to keep the BOV as close as possible to 6in away from the TB.

IMO you want the setup to be Turbo ~> IC ~> VAF ~> BOV ~> TB

This keeps the air from going backwards through the VAF and keeps the BOV as close to the TB as possible.

With that setup, that VAF wont last too long on there ....

With the VAF there, it cant be good for flow at all. Put it where Mazda designed it to be.
