    shaft play...

so I found an old turbo t-bird at the j/y with a T3... how much shaft play is acceptable? It has a little bit (i think) but I really have no clue as to how much is too much.

If you can move it just barely but can't really see the movement then its acceptable!
**SOLD** 93 EGT with more suspension mods then your average riced out civic's # of decals + useless "bling/style/culture" mods! **SOLD**

Well you MIGHT if you have really good vision. Point is its VERY little play. Just enough to move and can barely feel the movement and thats it!

also side to side play is the most dangerous - back and forth is not so bad. The side to side play is what wears the seals (if not worn already) and bearings and the blades will hit the compressor housing after a while

Well same thing holds true. Side to side also has VERY little play but there is SOME there. And seals hmm yeah. Turbos that lay around too long the seals dry up and your screwed anyways and the turbo will burn oil and your car will smoke!
