    Is my turbo dead?

    Well... bad news...

When I lift my foot from the gas pedal after boosting there's quite a lot of smoke coming out of my exhaust. So I'm thinking the turbo just went.

    What do you guys think?

    coolant smoke or oil smoke?

could be your valve stem seals...

Nah engine is all rebuilt. All new gasket/seals. It dosen't smoke at all, only after lifting my foot after seeing boost. If I don't boost or drive around normally, there's nothing coming out the exhaust.

Not yet... it still does it's job normally, only it's smoking now. It would not do that at first but since yesterday it started doing it.

Just pop off your inlet pipe and see if there's any oil or play in the wheel i guess.

good luck, hope she's not pooched

a rebuild kit for a vj11 should work, shouldnt it?

Well the turbo is a custom VJ-20 hot side with a VJ-11 cold side and a custom wastegate is on it. I kinda doubt that thing I paid 150$... so I feel more like upgrading than rebuilding.

I was thinking of either buying a good used VJ-20 or a T3 or a small T3/T4 or a GT28RS (they are some chinease knock-offs on eBay, I wonder what they are worth).

It's oil burning color... lol ...

it's not white and thick as coolant burning and it's not like running rich either. Really seems to be oil burning.

                      Blue.

If you can find a VF-10/12 you should rebuild and make a hybrid.

Well well well.. it's officially dead.

There are incredible amounts of oil in my intercooler pipes and theres oil sipping between the center section and exhaust housing.

It's back to N/A for the rest of winter. I still don't know if I will upgrade or find another turbo. I'm really tempted to change my BG for something else. I feel like leather, heated seats, RWD and a V8.

Your turbo **** on you for Christmas huh? That's not very nice.

I think you should replace the turbo.

I disassembled the turbo today and the shaft is tight as when I bought it. Can't seem to find where the leak is from.

The only clue I have is one of the bolts that holds the clamps to retain the exhaust housing with the center section wasn't very tight.

Sorry to be such a noob but besides the bearings, are there any seals in the center section that I can't see that may be busted?
