    330 injectors on bpt

im hearing horor stories about 330 injectors is it safer to run the 440 or 460 injectors on a bp with a vj-20 . my assumtion is with gtx intake and exuast mani's probe side mount with a gtx ecu no safc,no boost retard,no wide band and all that expensive stuff that i can't afford that ill still be cool with not much to worry about below 8 psi is this true please i don't want to blow a motor my first time out . advise or sugustions please .

    Horror stories? What kind, exactly?

330s are fine up to 15 psi on a VJ20. With no management and 440s (if you mean GTR injectors, I hope you plan to get a resistor box) or 460s you will run pig rich and cause a new set of problems.

You don't need an SAFC or boost retard if you are using the GTX ecu, they are just kludgy solutions to tuning anyway.

Let's make this easy: the BP26 ecu contains maps tuned specifically for the BPT with 330cc injectors.

You'd have to work at it to screw that one up.

Edit: You really didn't need to post a picture of the motor. We all know what they look like.

ya i know im still excited about all this i was origanaly against the idea of turbos but it grew on me plus im the only souped up escort for 150 miles in any direction so now ill be the only turboed one and well theres a crap load of hondas out here and like most of u i want to see there reactions when a station wagon smokes the **** out of them as well as my canyon run thru angelus crest (hwy 2) a windy road thru the moutains ive been playing on for 16 years . i figure get the car running with the turbo on it first then once its running good then i can go with a fmic , boost controler, bov , safc etc
i just know how to bolt it on as far as tuning or diagnosis im screwed .
the good news is my buddys at home giving my gtx intake manifold a mild port and polish . does that help alot on a stock bpt ?

people crank these turbos up to 10-12-14 psi and then blow the motor is that because lack of fuel uasually ? or no monatering swstem (wide band )?

whos telling you that the motor blows at 14psi on stock ****?

these things are solid untill 250hp and with the stock sidemount and everything u wont hit 250 even at 15psi on teh stock turbo..

330cc injectors are good for up to 15psi as stated above..

my afr's accordin to my megasquirt read around 12.5 at 15psi and i could richen it up even more if i like.. if you run the stock motor iwht stock ecu you will have nothing to worry about. when you get rid of that sidemount and crappy stock Intercooler piping. ull prolly be above the 8psi just from that..

im not running any boost controller and i boost up to 15psi with my 2.5inch piping ant FMIC. and open downpipe. and the afr's are fine..

Okay, get the idea of buying an SAFC out of your head- they are USELESS for our cars and a poor way of tuning.

You should run a bypass valve on your car at the very least to prevent compressor surge, which will kill the pathetic little shaft on your turbo. Not a BOV, those make the car run funny due to unmetered air.

Anyone who blows up a BPT on 10-14 psi was doing something wrong, plain and simple. My frankenmotor with 8.8:1 compression was seeing 1.1 bar with spikes to 1.3 occasionally on the VJ20 with no internal damage.

Eric- with his setup, he'd probably be around 190whp at 15 psi. Maybe a little less.
