Anyone running a A'PEXi S-AFC? I am running mine with my BPT in my mx-3 and it doesnt seem right. Its running rich as all hell at idle which is causing major problems. What do you guys recommend? RRFPR? New air flow sensor from rx-7? Anything will help, thanks.

I do not have one yet but am planning on installing one in my BPT when finanaces permit. Presently I have a RRFPR installed as well as an MSD6-BTM to retard the timing at boost. I'm using my stock BP injectors (245cc) for now as the GTX ones (330cc) were making the engine run really rich. I'm limiting my boost to 7PSI until the S-AFC is installed. The RRFPR is intended to increase the fuel flow according to boost. Seems to do this quite well as at full boost I am running a little in the rich. Really, the RRFPR is indended to provide more fuel at full throttle (WOT) when the stock computer ignores the sensors and goes by internal mapping.
What did you set the S-AFC for at idle? As far as I have read, you should set the S-AFC to reduce the perceived air and therefore fuel flow considerably at idle and below boost levels (~3500rpm?).
Can anyone add to or dispute this?

I didnt get it for the idle problem I got it to even out the air/fuel mixture which it doesnt seem to be working to the fullest. It has helped a bit but I guess I still have to mess around with it.Chris

Im running a S-AFC II on a BPT swap in an Escort. It works great. right now im having top end fuel issues running 14-15 psi of boost but im about to install some 480 cc injectors to see if that should help. But no rich issues anywhere with the 330s that it comes with. If anything, I can lean the hell out of it, which is bad but for a little testing it works.JordyB

I'm also using the 330cc injector on mine and don't have any trouble at idle. Has jordyb said it leans out around 13 to 14psi but on mine it more a gas pump trouble then a injector cc. I tried to run the gtx with the stock bp injector but couldn't get the engine to idle. What ecu are you using? the bp n/a ecu or the gtx ecu i'm running the stock bp n/a ecuhttp://www.cardomain.com/id/protila

people were always saying that the s-afc was not compatible with the VAF due to not being able to reach as high a voltage as the VAF.
You may be able to speak to turbo1g who as far as I know is running a S-afc on his GTX sedan. If you can't reach him you can reach him through boostedpro...

The final setup at the moment thats untested is BP-26 ECU (GTX), S-AFC-II JDM Ver., 255 walbro pump, 480cc RX-7 injectors. Im sure I will have to lean out the bottem end but need the fuel for more the 14+ psi...nothing wrong with running a bit rich. Almost all thanks to Turboge.JordyB

i use safc on mine car,its corect that the safc wont work at wot.im ony using the afc for mine low throtle to adjust mine idle and crusing fuel mixture and on high throtle i got it like -25% lean to prevent fuel cut.to tune wot i use fuel preasure regulator and 550cc injectors.http://hometown.aol.com/d2maz/index.html

I know the question was for Jordy but I can answer part of your question as that is exactly my setup. The stock BP ECU can use the GTX injectors but will run really rich at cruise and idle. Using and SAFC to trim down the flow at idle and cruise is required. A higher flow pump is definitely a need since your pump is most likey tired and will be accelerated to its grave through harder work at boost.

I blew my first motor running an N/A ECU on a GTX motor. I wouldn't even recommend stock boost without at least a RRFPR. You guys should be trying out the e-manage, proves to be a much better solution for everything.
