Can I swap wastegate actuator, on a vj20 to alter max boost?

Hi, has anyone ever tried to swap an internal wastegate actuator on a vj20? I'm looking to limit my boost level to 8lbs via lower wastegate actuator threshold. Anyone have experience doing this?

ya, the guy that rebuilt my turbo said it was set to 13, it is a vj20/vj11 hybrid, checked my pm's and surprisingly had the old ones from when i bought the turbo, blown, from Escort91GTX. I just need to know if swapping out the actuator is at all feasible. Thanks for the input.

Thanks for the advice, but i need the wastegate wide open by 8.5lbs, I think a vj20 actuator cracks at 8.8 and is wide open at 12-13lbs. I may be wrong, I'll have to check...

stock boost is around 9psi with stock DP and exhaust. With a bigger DP, it goes up to 10 in the first 4 and 12 in 5th. Napishi mne PM

hmm i hit 10-12 all day.. and it really didnt change much from the stock DP to the CS DP.. altho they are both open at the firewall..

if anything it just gets there quicker with the CS DP

There is your answer, it's cut at the firewall... no back pressure

And I think corksport claims 2psi increase using their dp anyways. So 2psi for the dp + 2 more for no exaust and poof. Its not the wg actuator.

and mine is detonating at anything past 9psi. i already bought a wastegate that will ultimately take the fun out of my bp-t. cracks at 4, wide open at 7. Good times.

ilya maybe you should thing of getting rid of all the b6t stuff that runs the bp-t motor and go with a bpt ecu or safc or even better a megasquirt

b6t ecu works... the reason for my not going bpt ecu and bpt injectors, and bpt wiring harness, and bpt sensors, is that on a front wheel drive BF, it seems wasteful. The N.A. bp ran great with the b6t computer and wires, but was a little too rich in the top end. The bp-t is running too lean. Easy solution would be to limit boost via wastegate. If I were to do the swap over again, i would have swapped in the complete engine and harness and altered the car's onboard lights, switches and gauges to work with the bg-newer harness, not the way i did it, trying to get a newer engine to run on and older ECU, wires, dizzy, and all of the other shortcomings of the older bf car ie uncommon voltage of VAF signal.

i'll rant more on this subject later.
