Who says there are no superchargers for Proteges? Of course there are. You can supercharge any car you wish, sure they may not be "pre-built" for Protege (not sure what you mean by that) but is it possible and very easy. Heck my friend supercharged a wimpy 1.4 L Peugeot 206, goes to show what can be done, and his car simply flies (0-60 in 5 sec)!
Here is what you would need:
supercharger unit (I would go with Rotrex SP-30)
extra fuel injector with the connector pipe to the intake
MF 2 unit to control fuel injection for the above
Signal conditioner to "tune" the MAP sensor to work with boost
various assorted hoses (Samco)
that's about it unless you would want to add an intercooler
